MN Hunting Opener

Minnesota Hunters who are heading out this weekend for the start of the firearms deer season should have plenty of opportunities across the state. The D-N-R’s Fred Bengston says the deer population got through the winter in good shape and has been on the rise over the last five to six years because of tighter regulations. He says they’ve been somewhat conservative in the hunting allowance framework – and now they’re actually trying to reduce the herd in many areas. Bengston says there has been plenty of natural foods for the deer to feed on and are exhibiting healthy body weights and sizes heading into the winter.
