A Chippewa Falls woman is in Barron County custody this morning after authorities say she led them on a chase through three counties Friday afternoon.
Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the chase started on Highway 53 around 1:50 p.m. Friday in Chippewa County.
Fitzgerald said as the driver, Danielle Ford, 29, entered Barron County, stop sticks were used but Ford was able to get around them.
The chase continued north and into Washburn County. Deputies there put out spike strips near Sarona which sent Ford’s car into the ditch where she was arrested.
According to Fitzgerald, the car was stolen out of the West Allis area. West Allis police say Ford stole a different vehicle in Illinois before stealing the vehicle involved in the chase.
Ford is being held in the Barron County Jail on recommended charges of felony fleeing and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. The chase was 40 miles long, according to the sheriff. It was all on Highway 53.
