The P-G-A Tour 3-M Open returns to Minnesota this coming week, with the opening round set for Thursday at the T-P-C Twin Cities Course in Blaine. The 72-hole tourney will conclude on Sunday. Fans will not be allowed to watch in person, but there will be national television coverage of the event. One of the golfers to keep an eye on is up-and-coming South African Erik Van Rooyen (ROY-in), who now lives in Florida. Van Rooyen is a former University of Minnesota golfer and is excited to be coming back to play in a P-G-A Tour event in Minnesota. His wife Rose and her family is from the Twin Cities, so Van Rooyen is excited to return. Van Rooyen played for the Gophers from 2009 through 2013 and finished second in the Big Ten Championships in 2013. He joins former Gopher Tom Lehman and current Gopher Angus Flanagan as players in the field at the 3-M Open this week.
