One person is dead after a welfare check on Tuesday lead to a deputy being shot in Wood County. According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, police were called to a welfare check on State Highway 186 in Arpin. While there, the subject allegedly got a knife. A struggle ensued, and the person was shot by law enforcement, according to officials; that person died. A Wood County deputy was shot during the incident and has non-life threatening injuries; it isn’t clear who shot the deputy. Another civilian was injured during the incident and is in stable condition. No details into how that person was hurt were made available. The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.
