The Wild are looking for their first win out of the All Star Break and will get their next chance Thursday night at home against the Oilers. While the Wild have dropped three straight in their return to game action, two of those losses have come past regulation, netting the Wild two valuable points. The Wild and Oilers have split the first two games in the season series but it was the Oilers that handed the Wild a 7-2 defeat on December 7th thanks in part to Connor McDavid lighting them up with four points. While the Oilers are still alive for a playoff spot they’ll enter Thursday night having lost six in a row. Puck drops at 7 P-M at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild got bad news on Wednesday: captain Mikko Koivu will miss the rest of the season. Koivu connected knees with the Sabres Tage Thompson in Tuesday’s shootout loss at Buffalo and Wednesday the Wild revealed Koivu suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee. He’s expected to have surgery to repair the knee on Friday. To make up for the roster spot the Wild called up forward Joel Ericksson Ek from Des Moines.
