A Milwaukee police officer was killed and another was hospitalized Thursday after their squad car was involved in a rollover crash. Officer Charles Irvine Junior, age 23, and his 36-year-old partner were in pursuit of a reckless vehicle Thursday afternoon. Their squad car crashed and rolled off the road until it was wedged near an overpass in northwest Milwaukee. Irvine and his partner were transported to the hospital with serious injures.
Irvine died despite life saving efforts and his partner is in stable condition. Irvine had been with the department for four years. This is the Milwaukee Police Department’s first death in the line of duty in 22 years.
