Gov. Walker Signed Sarah’s Law

Governor Scott Walker signed a bill into law that was inspired by a March 22 shooting. “Sara’s Law” increases penalties for people convicted of threatening family attorneys. It passed the state Senate unanimously.

The idea came after a Wausau attorney, Sara Quirt-Sann, was shot and killed at her workplace on March 22, 2017. She was the divorce attorney of the shooter’s wife. Judges and other kinds of attorneys are already protected under various laws.
