Four Hospitalized In Two Vehicle Crash In Rural Hudson

Three people remain hospitalized in critical condition after a two-car crash early Wednesday in rural Hudson.  Saint Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson said deputies responded at 5am to McCutcheon Road and County Road A for a crash. The driver and two passengers of a 2008 Toyota Prius were extricated from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.  All three were in critical condition at Regions, Knudson said, though he said they were expected to survive.  The driver was 45-year-old Hudson resident Michael Kupka, who had John Cosentino, age 56 of Hudson, as his front-seat passenger and 61-year-old Cheryl Cosentino as a back-seat passenger.  All three sustained serious injuries.  The sheriff said it appeared the Prius was westbound on McCutcheon Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the second car, a 2011 Dodge Charger, that was southbound on County Road A.  That car was driven by 36-year-old New Richmond resident David Donovan, who was taken to Hudson Hospital with minor injuries.  All four occupants of the vehicles were seat-belted.  The crash remains under investigation.
