Four County Government Agencies Meet Today

Four meetings of Polk County government groups are being held today. The Board of Adjustment meets at 8:30am today in the West Conference Room of the Government Center in Balsam Lake. After brief matters, the Board of Adjustment will recess to conduct four on-site visits to properties, the owners of which are seeking a variance or conditional-use permit under the County Shoreland Protection Zoning ordinance. At 1pm the Board of Adjustment will reconvene at the Government Center for public hearings and determinations on those four requests.

The Polk County Health and Human Services Board meets today in Conference Rooms A and B at the Government Center in Balsam Lake. An orientation meeting will be held at 8am. At 10am the business meeting will begin, which will review Board responsibilities and receive reports.

The Polk County Public Safety and Highway Committee will meet at 10am for training on the use of computer tablets in the Community Room at the Justice Center in Balsam Lake. At 2pm the business meeting will begin; it will include a tour of the dispatch center with a demonstration of the 911 addressing system; and a recommendation to develop a uniform rural addressing and road numbering ordinance; and a recommendation to accept the donation of a remodeled ambulance from Osceola Hospital as a mobile command vehicle for the Sheriff.


The Executive Committee of the Polk County Board will meet at 4pm today in the County Board Room at the Government Center in Balsam Lake. An update on the selection of a County Administrator is on the agenda, along with recommendations for replacement of the fairgrounds grandstand.
