Car-Buggy Crash Kills Child, Injures Three Others

One child is dead after the buggy they were riding in was involved in a crash on County Highway H west of Township of Fremont in Clark County.  The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a call of the crash at about 8:48am, on Wednesday, December fifth.  Initial investigation indicated that a car being driven by a 17-year- old female, was traveling east on Highway H behind another vehicle.  The vehicle ahead of her swerved left and she saw a horse-drawn buggy also eastbound along the side of the road.  She struck the buggy with the front right corner of her car.  The buggy had 4 passengers, all children, at the time of the accident: ages 13, 10, 8 and 6.  All the children were ejected from the buggy.  The buggy came to rest in the south ditch.  The 8-year-old died from the crash. The 10 and 6-year-olds received incapacitating injuries and the 13-year-old received non-incapacitating injuries.  The 17-year-old driver was alone in her vehicle, is from the Neillsville area and was wearing her seatbelt.
