The Amery City Council met in regular session Wednesday to take several actions. A request from the new Jimmy Johns for additional signage was approved by the council; one sign over their entrance and another over their drive-up window. A bill for repairs to the Fire Department ladder truck was approved for payment, in sum of $19,828.19. And the council approved a budget amendment for the Police department, for use of excess funds from 2018 budget, to new cameras in the interview rooms, and in the parking lot. The Council approved a park host for the North Park campground for the 2019 season. An update from the Amery Community Center on furnace problems was heard; an estimate for repairs was set at $11,805.00 from Johnson Controls, and the council recommendation was that a new, less expensive and more thorough vendor be found. It was noted that the building has had these kinds of problems for years, and maybe a new vendor would help alleviate these on-going problems. The council also decided to give 45 days notice to those involved in the house at 121 Deronda Street, that they have 45 days to take any action they want before the city demolishes the building. The house is condemned and efforts to solve the problem have gone unanswered by the owners and a financial institution that is involved. Administrator Kim Moore indicated that interviews are being set for applicants for the positions of City Clerk-Treasurer and for the Management Analyst position. The Council then went into Closed Session under statute 19.85(1)(c) in regards to Public Works staffing and wages.
